From its very beginning, Blackberry‘s main claim to pride was that its mobile devices were preferred by large organizations and government agencies, including President of the United States, Barack Obama, himself, who put security as their highest priority.
The company holds a line of security solutions and it invests in them, but Google recently told the press in its latest developers conference that it will implement some of Samsung‘s KNOX tools in android, meaning it will raise the operating system security considerably.
John Chen, Blackberry’s CEO, Isn’t impressed: “Don’t get blinded by those who can speak of security, instead check the companies that are making efforts security driven organizations”.
Chen isn’t holding back on the fact that he’s courting the organizations his company lost as clients, so he can win them back. The security improvements and progress made by Google and Apple. made for some of their devices being approved to use in secured military networks, in turn dealing a massive blow for Blackberry.
Recently, Chen said that the company might try to sell licenses for its patents, which may imply that it is interested in Google implementing its solutions in Android, But Google taking on the Samsung solutions and Blackberry still fights for its life.
