The Web Application Firewalls market has been growing rapidly – and according to Gartner‘s latest report, Israeli company Impreva is one of its leaders.
The WAF market grew in 2013 at a 30% rate – from 259$ in 2012 to 337$. The majority of this growth was made by a handful of providers. The north American market was the largest – 45% of the entire market share. EMEA (Europe, Middle east and Africa) took 29% of the market share, while Asia/Pacific constituted 26%. Inside the EMEA – The middle east region showed the biggest growth rate and Europe – the lowest.
Impreva is lone occupant of the top right quadrant the one consisting of market leaders. It was stated in the report that “Impreva continues to raise its share in the WAF market. There is a strong relation between its WAF product and the rest its information security portfolio. The firm leads the market, is launching new components that force its rivals to respond, it has effective and evolved defensive technologies.
Impreva was established in 2002 by Shlomo Kramer, one of the founders of Check Point, who left the Israeli security giant with Half a billion Dollars. Its stocks were issued in the NASDAQ stock exchange in 2011 according to a company value of 400$ Million and is now worth 700$ million.
Among the other companies that were mentioned in the Gartner magic quadrant were F5, Citrix, Barracuda Networks, Akamai and Israeli companies Fortinet and Radware.
