Chinese Hackers managed to infiltrate the American government Personnel management agency’s network earlier this year. Government officials told the New York Times that this operation, that took place on March, and Officials was carried out to gather information on tens of thousands highly classified workers.
The Hackers got access to a few data bases before the federal authorities identified the infiltration and block it. It isn’t clear how deep the hackers got into the IT system of the agency.
Inside the databases of the agency there were also details of foreigners who are candidates to join, data on their previous work places, their economic situation and personal information, such as whether they used drugs.
A high ranked official in the Home office said that although the databases contained this kind of information, “No theft or loss of personal data has been identified.”
